The past five decades have seen how Americans, especially Millennials, have become more detached from major institutions such as political parties, religion, the military and marriage, while women have greatly increased their participation in the nation’s workforce.

China urged to lower legal age for marriage

China is facing calls to lower its legal age of marriage — the highest in the world — to help boost birth rates and alleviate the problems of its aging population. Men must currently be 22 before they can marry, and women 20. The limits were set in 1980 as Beijing introduced its draconian one-child policy.

Most parents think they’re not making enough family memories

The study, conducted by OnePoll in conjunction with Crayola Experience, surveyed 2,000 parents of school-aged kids and found that 57 percent struggle to find quality time with their children due to a hectic daily life. That fast pace also translates to a feeling of disconnect, with one in three children saying their parents work too much.
