Millennials are in denial on how to mix marriage and career

Marriage-minded women also know something millennials apparently do not: that men and women do not have the luxury of mapping out their lives in similar fashion. Women have a finite period of time in which to get their work and family affairs in order, while men have time on their side. Call it unfair if you want, but that is something to take up with nature, not society.

Research just published by the Mental Health Foundation suggests children’s behaviour changes when they feel “worried” or “sad” and mental ill health does not just present as young people bursting into tears, wanting to isolate themselves or self-harming.

Siblings of children with autism have social, emotional problems

The researchers analyzed 69 studies that collectively include 6,679 children with an autistic sibling and 21,263 controls; 30 of the studies are unpublished dissertations, theses, abstracts and research posters. Including unpublished work helps to combat publication bias — the fact that journals favor findings that support an association over those that show none, Shivers says. Most of the studies are based on either self-report or parent questionnaires.

Child marriage in the US is surprisingly prevalent

Between 2000 and 2010, an estimated 248,000 children were married, most of whom were girls, some as young as 12, wedding men. Now, under pressure from advocates and amid a nationwide reckoning over gender equality and sexual misconduct, states have begun ending exceptions.
